Suffer Yourself - new album announced

SUFFER YOURSELF will unleash their fourth full-length album, "Axis of Tortures", on September 22nd via Aesthetic Death.

Following the success of their third album ("Rip Tide", 2021) – SUFFER YOURSELF took the opportunity to do tours of both Scandinavia and Belgium, once the global pandemic restrictions had lifted. A period of gigs which far exceeded what the band might normally undertake – with all gigs meeting to great success and the live set being a feature for the band into the future.
Within "Rip Tide" SUFFER YOURSELF could be heard to tease out and develop the death metal edge to their music. In the proceeding months following that release the band have worked tirelessly writing and recording the new album "Axis Of Tortures". This has culminated in a more aggressive approach and applied compositional ideas, incorporating death metal more prominently into their sound – meeting with doomed psychedelics and some interesting "twists".
"Axis of Tortures" is based around a concept and representation of any perceived tortures as a 4-dimensional geometrical graph, where there are three real coordinate axis (Insanity, Despair and Pain) and one assumed - Time (a 4th dimension, as we know it). Thinking about it from pure geometrical, and metaphysical point - any point in the 3D space can be anywhere in the coordinates and have any values, for example, (0,0,0) - is a very centre of all planes whilst, moving away from the central fulcrum, brings any combination of the three aforementioned variables and subsequently different amounts of each torture within the axis. We all exist somewhere in within the spectrum of tortures.
Regardless of the concept, the funeral death metal on "Axis of Tortures" will appeal to most discerning death metal fans, especially those who enjoy their death metal with a doomed morose overtone and steeped in the sounds of the early 90s.
To finish, it is worth mentioning the cover art for the album, a piece from Austrian surrealist painter Otto Rapp. The artist himself approved the use of this particular work, entitled "Eye of the Dark Star" (1993) to adorn the album cover. In our opinion, this fantastic piece of artwork brilliantly reflects the musical vision.

Whilst the band have always had a death metal edge to their doom, the new album - "Axis Of Tortures" - explores this much more thoroughly and to amazing effect - with death metal edges that are reminiscent to me of the early 90s bands, such as Transgressor etc...

The new album promises to be one of the highlights in their illustrious 20+ years as a band creating some memorably despairing doom.

Grava have just released a 2nd video for a track from the recent "Weight of a God" album.....

Message from the band..... It is directed by Atli Brix Kamban and edited by Thomas Futhermocking Grønkjær with illustrations by Karsten Sand. Thomas writes: "The idea for the video originated from the very beginning I saw the track as perfect for drone filming. Something about tempo, flow and visualization of the sound landscape… And I had also just got the good Karsten Sand to illustrate a nightmare parallel universe."
"Bender" is the second music video from the debut album "Weight of a God", and is based on the thoughts that had to go through the heads of the perpetrator and victim of "The Rack" respectively; a brutal instrument that, due to its effectiveness, was unfortunately used in various forms for over 1,000 years.

Mesmur - Chthonic

The time has come to reveal the artwork and share some additional information about the concept of the upcoming new Mesmur album, "Chthonic".
The title is based on the Greek word for "underworld", and the album is a loosely connected collection of stories about paranormal entities and the contact they make with the human world. Cadaversky's stunning cover painting, with its ghostly figure emerging from a murk of toxic yellows and greens, perfectly fits the album's musical aesthetic, as well as its horror oriented subject matter.
"Chthonic" is scheduled for digi CD release on April 14 by Aesthetic Death and Solitude Productions - both the digital version and digi CD version are also available directly from the band themselves at Bandcamp (support artists directly!!) - plus there are plans for a vinyl edition to follow.

Mesmur - new album

It is quite often the chance meanderings in life that bring the most interest and rich diversion.
During 2022 I unexpectedly had the chance to hear the new material from MESMUR, the recordings for what would become their new album - Chthonic. It's been great to explore a wonderful and creative album of extreme doom.
I'm glad to have the opportunity to release Chthonic, the 4th MESMUR album, on CD in collaboration with Solitude Productions.
Work is progressing on the release, with a release planned for Spring 2023. More news to follow....
